We are delighted to announce that our 2014 Hypothesis is now available to purchase ‘En Primeur’. For only two weeks, full cases of the vintage may be purchased at special ‘En Primeur’ pricing. This specialty pricing will end when the ‘En Primeur’ closes on April 2nd, while the wine will be shipped in September in conjunction with its official public release.
Inspired by the Bordeaux ‘wine futures’ tradition allowing the public to purchase unfinished wine in advance of bottling, thereby guaranteeing access to highly sought vintages. The 2014 Hypothesis is now available to purchase in advance of its public release at a cost of $468 per case, or the equivalent of $39 per bottle. As soon as the ‘En Primeur’ release closes on April 2nd, the sale of 2014 Hypothesis will cease until September 2018, when the wine is officially released to the trade and public. At this time, the price will raise to $46 per bottle, remaining unchanged from the 2013 vintage.
2014 has already been labelled as one of the best red vintages on record in the Okanagan. Canadian media influencers at WineAlign attributed the 2014 vintage to be “a stunner… and a keeper.” We’ve seen evidence of this ourselves in Culmina’s single-varietal red release last year, with these wines showing an exciting inkling of what was to come from our Hypothesis produced in the same year.
Why? For starters, 2014 saw fantastic temps, but without any heat spikes – a perfect oddity that combined both warmth and length in the growing season. In addition, the wine was made from 5th leaf fruit derived from Culmina’s high-density, Golden Mile Bench site. The result of all of this is a wine with incredible structure, intense concentration, fantastic aging potential, and a balanced profile to allow drinking from the time it is released, well into the ‘20s.
